Benefits of Becoming an Affiliate Marketer Affiliate Marketing is one of the most effective ways to advertise online, and is one of the easiest ways for anyone with a website to make a profit online. Affiliate Marketing is an agreement between a merchant and a website owner, whereby the website owner (affiliate), allows some use of his or her site for the promotion of the merchant's products by linking to the merchant site/products. In return, merchant pays a commission to the affiliate on sales generated by the affiliate. Each time a person clicks on links from the affiliate's site and proceeds to make a purchase, the affiliate gets a commission. The merchant pays the affiliate only when a customer clicks on the product link and makes a purchase. Affiliate marketing programs are a win-win situation for both the merchants and affiliates due to the structure of pay-for-performance. Both merchants and the affiliates enjoy benefits with affiliate marketing. For the merchant: the merchant gains a wider market in which to advertise a product or service by having the affiliate do much of the work and decide more pointedly how to target traffic, etc. Affiliate marketing will give a merchant's products or services the maximum exposure they it may not get if only the merchant were involved with promotion. The more affiliate sites a merchant has, the higher the traffic to convert to sales. Affiliate marketing is the equivalent of having an army of sales people to do the advertising, and the army will only get a commission if a customer purchases. For the Affiliate: An easy way to make a profit. Affiliates can earn by having an ad or link to the merchant's website listed visibly from his or her own website. Hopefully, prospective customers will click and proceed to make a purchase. As soon as the customer clicks on the ad from the affiliate's site, the customer is redirected to the merchant's website and continues on to make a purchase. From this, the affiliate earns a commission, though the affiliate does not have the worry of product delivery or other issues that might make business even more complicated and expensive for the affiliate. The more an affiliate sends customers to the merchant site for purchases, the more profit the affiliate makes. The task of 'customer service' usually falls on the merchant, as it is the merchant products and not the 'gateway' to the products through the affiliate that most customers might have issue with. This means that, for the affiliate, dealing with customers at a deeper level (possibly, with customers unsatisfied with a product or delivery) is usually not a responsibility. Merchants are generally the ones who must respond to and correct anything to do with customer satisfaction and product delivery issues. The only 'red flag' area here for affiliates is if customers return to the affiliate site and contact the affiliate over certain issues. If this happens too often, then the affiliate may want to question the merchant to see if or why customer complaints are occurring. and also, if the merchant is tending to customers in a forthright and ethical manner. In the case (it sometimes happens) of a merchant who is not, in fact, responding well to customers, an affiliate may want to seek out a better merchant who is capable of tending to customers and meeting customer needs. The plus side of this is that usually an affiliate can, in fact, disengage from merchants who are not showing ethical behaviors. Then an affiliate can locate a different merchant who deals in the same or similar products, and work with that merchant instead. In this, an affiliate need not worry about a long lull in business - due to an unworthy merchant, because many more affiliate programs and products exist, and affiliates can select the programs that fit best for their needs. Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to earn money while at home. There are virtually no production costs. Product research, development, storage, and delivery are all financed and proven via the merchant. These are merchant responsibilities. Most affiliate programs are free to join, so affiliates do not have to worry about start-up costs, either. Thousands of hight quality products and services are available to choose from, particularly in online markets. You should be able to find affiliate programs promoting nearly every product under the sun. Surely, you'll be able to find a product or service out there that is relevant to your website. |
